BUILDING ON PROGRESS

Mecca is the holiest place of the Muslim religion and is the birthplace of the prophet Muhammad. There are five rules of an Islamic regulated life (known as the Five Pillars of Islam), this includes: 1.) Faith, a person would have to sacrifice to God; "I testify there is no God but God, and Muhammad is His Prophet." 2.) Prayer, Muslims are required to pray five times a day. 3.) Alms, Muhammad commanded that the Muslims give a portion of their money to help the needy. 4.) Fasting, for one month Muslims could eat nothing between sunrise and sunset, but after sunset they could eat all they wanted. 5.) Pilgrimage, if a Muslim could afford it were required to visit Mecca at least once in their lifetime. Of course Muslim religion does not consist of just this, there are many more rules of morality, customs, and laws. For mre information on Muhammad, stop by The Dome of the Rock.
